AMP Press No. 2: Solomonic Magic & Sun Ra's Cymbal Symbols by Matt Marble Limited First Edition: 25 signed & numbered copies $24 | SHIPPING INCLUDED (US only)
After spotting some cymbals "with numerological figures" in the University of Chicago's Alton Abraham Collection of Sun Ra, I had to dig deeper for the AMP Journal. Adapted from that scholarly but accessible essay, this print book explores the Solomonic magic and astrology represented on his cymbal, becoming a portal into Venusian perspectives and Solomonic mythology, including Arkestral lore, Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon, magic carpets, an 18th century mystical commune, and more--featuring hand-drawn pentacles and other figures.
Each issue includes a rice paper print of a 1920s era Ephrata Cloister printing plate, stapled into the book's interior--featuring the seventh angel of the Apocalypse, blowing the horn that ushers in the Heavenly Kingdom. It's a fitting companion as this book harmonizes Sun Ra's Venusian and Solomonic symbolism with this 18th century mystical community--the first religious refugees in the New World.
Released today (9/11/2026) to honor Venus's entrance into Scorpio--our home sign--and to offer this book as a seal of cosmic joy and compassion, a metaphysical counter-force to the weight this date now carries.
